NWOCHI Spring 2008 Inspector Seminar

Its time again for an exciting and informative NWOCHI-sponsored home inspector seminar! This training will be held Saturday, June 7th, 2008 from 8 am to 4 pm (registration begins at 7:00) at the Four Points Sheraton in Portland, OR (Starwood Room). Their address is 1919 NE 181st Ave. Portland. This will be another successful event and a great learning opportunity for all! Teaching the classes will be three industry-respected professionals on the following topics:

  1. Air Conditioning: Buck Shepherd from AAA Heating. 1.5 CEU’s, will talk about Air Conditioning Systems.
  2. Electrical changes: Darren Marchisio from Professional Electrical Systems. 1.5 CEU’s, will discuss significant electrical changes home inspectors need to know.
  3. How to Begin and Build a Commercial Inspection Business” By Rick DeBoard 4 CEU’s, will discuss the opportunity to expand and diversify ones inspection business with the initial introduction class for Commercial Inspection. Learn how to get started and proceed in ones development of a Commercial inspection business.

Actual class CEU’s could be less due to breaks and lunch.
Registration is $110 for NWOCHI members, and $135 for non members. Become a member and receive the discount. Includes lunch. Checks only. Limited to 80 attendees. Register early!

NWOCHI Winter Inspector Seminar

Another successful event and a great learning opportunity for all! Our February '04 seminar saw 50 inspectors from throughout Oregon, Washington, and Idaho come together to learn about Exterior Claddings and how to properly inspect them. Teaching the classes were three respected professionals:


Vinyl Siding Installations, presented by Gary Ingolia of The Siding Company


Composite Sidings, presented by Dave Cohen of Siding Solutions


EIFS / Stucco, presented by Jim Boals of Pacwest Investigative and Adjusting Services



Lunch was again provided as part of the program, which allowed some good side conversations and camaraderie during the break. 6 State of Oregon OCHI continuing education (CE) credits, as well as for American Institute of Inspectors (AII), were earned at this event. (We were asked during the event about WSDA credits, so we did apply for them after the event. We will let you know here once we hear back if they were accepted.)

We continue to receive positive feedback from the surveys we hand out at the end of each event, with attendees asking us to continue holding these a few times a year. Here are a few of the comments about this seminar:

NWOCHI Summer Inspector Seminar

Our July 26th seminar was a great success! We hosted nearly 50 inspectors from throughout Oregon, Washington, and even Idaho, who came together to continue learning from three industry professionals. This seminar's topics were:


Furnaces and Heat Pumps, presented by Alan Lesman of All Temp Professional


Mold Issues in Home Inspecting, presented by Stuart McMullen of Soul Environmental


Asbestos Issues in Home Inspecting, presented by Tom Thompson of Certified Environmental Consulting






Lunch was provided as part of the program, and good conversation was had by all. Results of the feedback form showed that the attendees were pleased with the training they received, and all would consider attending another NWOCHI sponsored event. State continuing education (CE) credits were earned - 6 OCHI, 2 ODA, and 2 WSDA. We look forward to hosting another seminar soon.
